God's Divine Direction

Anchor Scripture:

And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.( Isaiah 42:16)

In today's devotion we are going to fully explain these 3 highlights:

  • Who does God direct?
  • Why do we need divine direction
  • How do i get/ receive divine direction

A. Who does God direct?

As Christians, we should understand from this scripture that God is willing and ready to direct us in life. However God does not just lead anybody on the earth.

He leads only His sheep who are willing to be led (Isaiah 55:8).

As humans we have been given that free will to make our decisions per time, we make the decision as to whether God should direct us or not.

If we do not surrender and ask God to direct our path, he will do nothing. This does not mean that God is powerless, not at all!

He is the Almighty God and All powerful God, but he just needs that go ahead, he needs that invitation, he needs that communication before he directs us.

If you are willing to be led/directed, God will lead you

• If you are willing to forsake your little human knowledge and acknowledge that you know nothing, the Lord will direct you.

If you are willing and obedient, the Lord is equally willing to show you the way.

B. Why do we need divine direction?

Sometimes as unbelievers and even Christians we boast of ourselves and ask:

As a wealthy individual why do i need direction?

• As an intelligent and smart student why do i need direction?

• As someone who can get anything at any point in time why do i need direction?

• As someone who has all the connections as friends, families and the likes, why do i need direction?

Here is the answer to these questions:

A man/woman without Gods direction is likened to a blind man leading him/her self.

No matter the connection, the money, fame, and intelligence we still need God's direction. With Gods direction we can effectively make use of the resources in our hands, if not they get wasted. Having the fire and passion for God is not enough, you need direction!

You need to be taught the principles in the kingdom,

• You need to be taught how to effectively use your talents,

• You need to be taught precept by precept how to effectively spend your money.

 You need Gods direction!

• You need the direction of God when you are about to enter Higher institution,

• You need the direction of God before getting married,

• You need the direction of God as to whom you should befriend and whom you should not befriend.

• You need the direction of God before choosing a career path.

Being wealthy and stinking rich is not enough, being intelligent and smart is not enough, being connected and famous is not enough.

  You need Gods direction!

When God leads you, errors are bound to be prevented, the mistake your parents, friends, neighbours, or anybody made because of lack of direction, when it comes to your turn you will not make it.

Everybody, including the old, young, rich, poor, wise, smart, all need the direction of God. Gods direction can not be over emphasized, we need him to lead us.

He is our good shepherd, he knows the way better than we do. He knows what the future holds, so the best we can do is to surrender our life and ask him to take control.

C. How do i receive Gods direction?

Now that we are fully aware that can not just do without God direction. You may ask:

How do i receive Gods direction?

You are willing to be led, but how can you receive his direction?

I. Become his child: I can say for sure that the very step to receiving the leading of God is to become his own, you must be born again! We must be covenant children of God before He can lead us.

As it is written:

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).

This implies that, for God to be committed to directing us, we must first be His children!

II. Meekness: We need a meek spirit to be guided and directed by God.

King David said in Psalm 25:9:

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

This means meekness of heart must be in place before God can show us His ways.

Yes, we are willing to be led but let's check our hearts. We are still trusting our knowledge, our money and connection to direct us.

Drop them all, drop all your head knowledge in the corner of your room and lay down flat before God saying:

               I know nothing!

Trust the Lord to direct you not your wisdom, be humble to know that all you have can not save you nor direct you on the right path.

III. Faith: To be directed by God who we can't see takes faith, we need faith to be directed by God. Not just any faith but "real" faith, faith that can sustain us throughout the process God is directing us.

Apostle Paul said: For we walk by faith, not by sight: (2 Corinthians 5:7). Divine direction is not for those that walk by sight but for those who will trust God to lead them aright.

An individual can decide to trust his ways and lead himself, but it is faith that makes a man seek God for divine direction.

IV. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit: Where else would we receive if not from the Holy Spirit? The Hoy Spirit is sent to us to be our teacher and to direct us in all our ways. We are expected to communicate and fellowship with the Hoy Spirit on a daily basis.

The Holy Spirit is to show us the things to come but before He can do that, we must first have to know Him and enjoy communion with Him.

Take time to fellowship with the Holy Spirit and see how mightily you are directed

Prayer: Abba Father i ask you this moment, that you lead and direct my path in every area of my life in Jesus name.

Amen! Did you enjoy this session? Then check out for more devotions!
