Trust God's Timing
I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God. My times are in Your hands… — Psalm 31:14-15
~If at all you think time is running out,
~If at all you think you are lagging behind,
~If at all you think that your mates are running ahead and faster than you,
~If at all there is nothing in your life or nothing around you that convinces you that it will get better with time,
Then i'm happy to tell you through this post that:
"You can trust Gods timing".
In a previous post the topic: Waiting Room of God was made mention of. It was pointed out that God's timing is totally different from ours. The way we count our time using seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years is totally different from the way God counts his own time.
Isaiah 55:8-9 & 2 Peter 3:8-9 attest to it:
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts”. Isaiah 55:8-9.
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8-9
Compared to God, what do we know?
I read an article where our knowledge was compared with that of God’s. He illustrated it with a big circle on a page with a tiny dot in the centre. That tiny dot of our knowledge symbolized our knowledge compared to God’s.
To be honest fam, he might have even been generous with the dot. God’s knowledge and wisdom are far, far greater than ours. So when we question God’s timing, we are trying to fit our plans and purposes into God’s far superior timeline.
Every ones timing might be different but God's timing is the best, so the only thing we can do is to trust this timing of God. Trusting God's timing requires us to place our times in God’s hands, believing that his timing is perfect for all things in our lives.
Our human nature wants good things to happen now, not later, and when it does not happen that way, we are tempted to ask:
''When God? When?".
But as we mature in our walk with Jesus, we need to learn to believe God for things not immediately, but in God’s perfect timing. Most of us need to grow in the area of trusting Gods timing instead of focusing on the "when" question.
~ If you're missing joy and peace, then you're not trusting Gods timing but yours.
~ If your mind feels worn out at all the time in every situation, then you're not trusting Gods timing but yours.
~If you are anxious and worried and all times then you are just not trusting Gods timing.
Your anxiety and worry would never make the hands of Gods clock faster. God wants us to live by discernment and not head knowledge. It would be extremely difficult to discern situations if you're always trying to figure everything out.
~Stop trying to know everything!
~Stop trying to figure everything out!
Instead be willing to say:
"God, I can't figure this out", so i'm going to trust you to give me revelation that will set me free, then you can be comfortable in spite of not knowing.
You see, most times trusting God means not knowing how he is going to accomplish something, and not knowing when He will do it.
But the most beautiful thing about this scenario is that:
Not knowing how or when stretches our faith and teaches us to how to trust.
Remember: Trust isn’t inherited—it is learned.
Time plays an important role in learning to trust God. As you experience his faithfulness over and over again, you’ll be able to give up trusting in your own wisdom, knowledge, understanding or ability, and place your life in His more-than-capable hands.
What a wonderful place to be!
Prayer: Father, please help me not to be in a rush, or try to make something happen too soon. Thank You for having the best plan, and for helping me trust Your timing.
Amen! Did you enjoy this devotion? Then, check out for more devotions!
