True Worshippers

INTRODUCTION

This is a wonderful topic and I feel that there are many things we don't understand in this aspect of our relationship with God and we'd take a close look at this today 🤗.

    Now......what is worship?

I know it's a term many of use quite often and I guess we practice it often too 🌝. Basically, worship is the feeling or expression of reverence, awe or adoration to a deity. A deity is a God and anything could serve as a God.  As Christians, we serve a God and He is the one true-living God. As God, He deserves worship!. You know how traditionalists offer sacrifices in pots or plates or whatever to the deity that is carved?. They do it with all seriousness, you see the reverence they give, the respect and all other notable attitudes...... that's the same attitude God expects from us and even more!

I'd talk more about this but let's take a look at the Bible to see what God has to say about this 🤗.

“Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither here at this mountain nor there in Jerusalem.

You worship guessing in the dark; we Jews worship in the clear light of day. God’s way of salvation is made available through the Jews. But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter. “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God.

Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” [John 4:23‭-‬24 MSG].

Here, Jesus was talking to the Samaritan woman at the well. He emphasized on the manner at which we should worship God.....in spirit and in truth!!!. That's to show how much God values worship talk less of the worshipper🥺.

Many of us say we worship God....... it's not by just raising hands and screaming or rolling on the floor during worship sessions but the intent of your heart. When you sing hymns and worship songs, do you pay attention to the lyrics and relate it to the things God has done for you or what He's doing or what you trust Him to do?. Do you look back and see how awesome He's been, the miracles, the testimonies or who He has shown Himself to be in your life?. Even putting all the miracles aside do you worship Him for who He is?.

Some of us only worship God when He has done something for us and it ought not to be🤧💔.

I’m energized every time I enter your heavenly sanctuary to seek more of your power and drink in more of your glory. For your tender mercies mean more to me than life itself. How I love and praise you, God! Daily I will worship you passionately and with all my heart. My arms will wave to you like banners of praise. [Psalms 63:2‭-‬4 TPT]

This is the kind of worship God wants from us.....not that He won't do the miracles you want Him to do for you but He wants you to see Him beyond that....He wants you to worship Him for who He is!!!.

An atmosphere of worship is a beautiful one as many of us who have experienced this would agree with me. Praise is a wonderful thing too. In as much God loves praise, He loves worship too so don't deprive Him of it because He won't beg for it.....if you don't give Him, He will raise stones to worship Him. He caused dry bones to rise in times past so who are you that He cannot replace with a stone?!!. He is God, He sits on the throne and does as He pleases.

I'm sure you don't want to be replaced by a stone. It will not be our story in Jesus' name but we have to do the necessary.

There are numerous benefits of worshipping God.....so many that if we start to ist them, we could go on and on 😩. If you don't believe me, ask Paul and Silas in Acts 16, emphasis on verse 25 (Acts 16:25).

So you might be wondering how can I worship God better?...... let's state some ways we can do that.

1. Through our songs: Use songs and hymns to bless God, pay attention to the lyrics and get yourself connected with heaven

2. Through our words: Honour God with the words of your mouth. The same mouth you use to worship God, don't use it to sing wordly songs or talk dirty. Let your words impart grace to the hearers

3. Through your thoughts: Fill your heart with things that equip your mind spiritually so it is inline with the things of God. That doesn't mean you can't have your academics or other positive things at heart but let it be plain before God......you cannot lift an unclean heart before God.

4. Through your outward appearance and attitude: The way you comport yourself reflects a lot about you. Just as a solider appears in uniform, a true worshipper should dress appropriately and act according to scriptures. It shows that you fear God and reverence Him.

Beloved of God, I believe God is talking to someone today!

One important thing we should also note is that we cannot worship God effectively without the Holy Spirit.....He speaks the mind of God to us so we need Him in the place of worship. He gives us the understanding of what God wants us to do or say when we worship.

That's why sometimes during worship session, you don't feel anything but other times, you literally feel God's presence, you feel him moving from one end to another and trust me, that feeling is overwhelming!!

I'll round up with this text: "So here’s what I’ve concluded. I will pray in the Spirit, but I will also pray with my mind engaged. I will sing rapturous praises in the Spirit, but I will also sing with my mind engaged". [1 Corinthians 14:15 TPT]

In a nutshell, let's give it our all when worshipping God.....on the streets, in church, at home, anywhere. Let's worship with understanding and reverence.....

I see God helping us all!🤗
