Your True Identity!
INTRODUCTION
If someone walks up to you and asks "who are you", what would be your response?
WHO AM I IN CHRIST?
Who you are in Christ is who you already are and not who you will eventually become. You become that person the moment you give your life to Christ. Even though you may not experience the reality in your life as you should, nothing can change it, unless you consciously reject Christ.
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. [Hebrews 6:4-6 NKJV].
Let's read this with a different translation......
For [it is impossible to restore to repentance] those who have once been enlightened [spiritually] and who have tasted and consciously experienced the heavenly gift and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted and consciously experienced the good word of God and the powers of the age (world) to come, and then have fallen away—
it is impossible to bring them back again to repentance, since they again nail the Son of God on the cross [for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it], and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. [Hebrews 6:4-6 AMP]
So, who are you in Christ?
1. You are a new creation
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral andspiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. [2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP].
You are completely new, your sinful nature is washed away and a new you has emerged, a new person with the spirit of God in the has been born!
2. You are the righteousness of God
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. [2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV].
3. You are blessed and cannot be cursed
_This was the message Balaam delivered: “Balak summoned me to come from Aram; the king of Moab brought me from the eastern hills. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me! Come and announce Israel’s doom.’ But how can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I condemn those whom the Lord has not condemned? [Numbers 23:7-8 NLT].
No one has authority over you, except God. Therefore you cannot be cursed, but only will you be blessed, abundantly blessed.
4. You are the blessed of the Lord
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. [Ephesians 1:3 NIV]
Amen!
Your position in Christ
Your position in Christ is superior to your life condition in Christ. Operating from the realm of positional discovery puts you ahead of the limitations of your condition and empower you to work in the reality of the new creation. There is nothing under or above the heavens that can change your position in Christ!
For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]!
So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable. [2 Corinthians 4:17-18 AMP].
This basically sums it up for us!
What is your position in Christ?
1. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly places, far above principalities and powers. Eph. 2:6
2. You are hidden with Christ in God. [Colossians 3:2-4].
Lastly, your condition in Christ!
Your condition refers to practical experiences you have presently in your life. It is important to know that your conditions, no matter how hopeless, are the subject to your position in Christ. I think sometimes, Christians fail to understand how much authority they have. This is why we live in fear, we get depressed and so on...
No matter how terrible the situation is, you can handle it and put it in control because of your position in Christ. You are seated with God in heavenly places but the promotion you're after isn't coming. You have the power and authority (through Christ) to call forth that promotion, and it will be yours.
And if it isn't coming, you have to ask God whether or not it is his will that you get it. Instead of being frustrated, pray to God about the issue and he'll help you out. You probably aren't getting the position because he has fixed something better for you, somewhere else.
Our condition in Christ:
1. You are healed! [1 Peter 2:24]
_He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an
altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of
sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed. [1 Peter 2:24 AMP].
To be able to get the result, you need to trust God completely. Have faith!
2. You are delivered: You have been delivered from the bondage of the devil, of sin, and of the flesh. You now possess the spirit of God in you! You shouldn't allow your current situation define you. It is God's will that as Christians, we become successful! Claim that success! Who you are in Christ, our position and condition in Him is because of the convenant we have with Him!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us understand better who we are in you, our identity, and the authority we hold in you. We ask for a deeper revelation of who you are... Amen!
